# Switch Workspaces

## Sources

Docs: [Login](/protection/login)

Web App: Select the Parable wordmark at the top of the Workspace sidebar; its **Switch Workspace** menu lists every Workspace you can open.

Each Workspace has its own address, such as `https://acme.parable.work`.
Signing in once gives you access to every Workspace where you are a member,
and the sidebar lets you move between them without signing in again.

## Change Workspace

1. Select the wordmark at the top of the sidebar. When you belong to only one
Workspace and cannot reach administration, the wordmark is a plain logo and
   there is nothing to switch.
2. Choose a Workspace from the list. Each row shows the Workspace name and
logo; the current Workspace is marked.
3. Parable opens that Workspace at its own address. The page you were on is
not carried across, because Parables, Providers, and people belong to one
   Workspace.

Only Workspaces where you hold membership appear. A Workspace you were removed
from disappears from the list and refuses to open.

## Parable Administration

Parable administrators see **Parable Administration** as the last entry. It
opens the administration surface on the bare Parable host, outside any
Workspace. The entry is absent for members without the administration role,
and the surface refuses anyone who reaches it by address alone.

## Local and preview environments

On `localhost` and managed preview hosts, Workspaces share one host instead of
subdomains. The same menu works there: Parable confirms that you belong to the
Workspace you chose, remembers the selection for that address only, for seven
days, and returns you to the page you were on. The return path is limited to a
page on the same site or under your Parable domain; anything else lands on the
Workspace home page. Canonical environments always switch through Workspace
subdomains.

The switch is a plain link, so another site could try to point you at it. It
only takes effect when the request starts from Parable itself or from your
address bar; a navigation the browser attributes to another site is refused
and nothing is remembered. The stored selection never travels to your other
Workspace addresses and is only sent over HTTPS when that is how you reached
Parable. Choosing **Parable Administration** forgets the selection again.
